The Etowah River overnighter trip is still on for this weekend. Jamie was supposed to lead it; however, he has to go to St. Simon’s Island where his house is to check on it after the hurricane. Richard Warner, being from the Dahlonega area, has offered to lead us on a hike. He is leaning toward a day hike on Saturday to the top of Blood Mountain from the back.

“A fun trail that will take all day, but not bad. It joins up to the AT, views at the top, starts at a small lake and campground. About 10 miles from the Etowah River Campground where we will be camping, easy drive there.”

We will also probably go to a fall festival in the area on Sunday. the Gold Rush Days festival in Dahlonega (http://dahlonegajaycees.com/gold-rush/) and Oktoberfest in Helen that we could check out.

The camping spot that is reserved for us is right on the river and it will be beautiful camping weather.

If you are interested, DO NOT contact Jamie. Contact Richard Warner at rockhunter1953@gmail.com 706 300-0129

If you contacted Jamie already about going, you still need to contact Richard and tell him you want to go.

See you Friday evening at the Etowah River Campground.

C. Rand

As mentioned earlier, the campsite by the river is already booked and free for tents. If you are planning to bring an RV and rent a site with hookups, I would call the campground asap and make reservations, as they expect to fill up that weekend. 706-867-7528.
